Circus Club

Austria's Biggest Gay Party

What makes the Circus experience so unique? Like no other party, we always try to outdo ourselves and improve on what we have built so far with each event. International top-DJs, gogos, performers from all over the world, spectacular stages and decoration, projections, loads of confetti, effects and laser shows set the foundation for unforgettable party nights.

Everybody is welcome

Regardless of who you love, where you're from, if you are male, female or have another identity: You are not only welcome at Circus, but you will surely meet many other people just like you. According to Viennese law you have to be at least 16 years of age to enter.

An international event

During it's 5 years of existence, Circus has developed into the biggest party of it's kind in Austria and now has a great reputation all across Europe. We are particularly proud of the fact that about half of our guests visit Circus from abroad. Our popular hotel-package usually sells out quickly.

Arena Vienna

Austria's biggest alternative Cultural Communication-Centre.

» The history of Arena Vienna

Entertainment and Confrontation

This is the motto of Arena Vienna - and it's history is filled with both.

The story starts almost 40 years ago. Activists who called themselves "Arenauts" presented their first collaborative plans to rescue Vienna's old slaughterhouse on June 27, 1976. On that night the squatting, which was going to last until October that year, was initiated.

More than 200.000 people visited the Arena during the squatting and people like Leonard Cohen described it as „best place in Vienna“, „best place in Europe“, or „best place in the world.“

After the sale of the property water, electricity, and the phone line were cut off. The old Arena was demolished on October 12, 1976.

The Arenauts' intention to create an autonomous cultural centre was eventually achieved next door at the domestic slaughterhouse, which is called Arena today. It has become a place for alternative music events of all kinds, from rock to punk to more art-oriented and experimental genres. Apart from concerts, cultural initiatives have found a home after the end of the "Arena-summer".

One of the main social functions of Arena today is to provide self-determined, cooperative work for people from marginalized social groups.

Arena sees itself as a platform for cultural and social activities. Concerts, solidarity-events, international top acts (from Alice Cooper to Katy Perry), parties, festivals, open airs and an outdoor cinema are among the many things that the former slaughterhouse offers to the viennese event scene.

We love working with the Arena team and we are proud to introduce a more mainstream queer audience to this legendary place.

By car

Arena Wien is located next to the crossing of the south- and east-highways. It is also close to the Landstraßer Gürtel as well as Rennweg and couldn't be easier to reach by car. On Saturday evenings you can park your car anywhere in the area for free.

If you're getting driving directions by gps, you'll most likely end up at the back door. The entry is just around the corner at Franzosengraben.
