Kaiserbründl
“The most elegant bath house in the World."
Kaiserbründl Herrensauna is the oldest bath house in Vienna. Its unusually deep well was in use during the Roman times and the first documentation of a "padstubn" (bathing room) dates back to 1369.
During the late 19th century, Simon Baruch, the founder of New York city’s public bathing system, called the Viennese establishment "the most elegant bath house in the World." Among its regular guests was the Archduke Ludwig Viktor of Austria, who was famous for his love of men.
Today, Kaiserbründl with its largely unchanged interior has become one the World’s most famous gay saunas.
